The Liverpool and Merseyside Branch has a membership of just under 300, it covers the City of Liverpool and the surroundings borough areas of Knowsley, Sefton including Southport, St Helens and the Wirral, which includes the towns of Birkenhead and Wallasey, which is known as Merseyside.
Liverpool is a renowned, vibrant city and offers many attractions including the Albert Dock complex and approximately 50 free places for visitors to explore. Outside of London, it has more listed buildings than other city in the country and is home to some of the world's most famous sporting venues and occasions, such as the Grand National Steeplechase held at Aintree racecourse. It is home to two of the world's most famous premier league football clubs, Liverpool who play at Anfield, and Everton the older of the two, who play at Goodison Park.
The surrounding areas offer opportunities for leisure pursuits such as golf and sailing and offer other interesting places to visit such as the Anthony Gormley 'Iron Men' on Crosby sea shore. Liverpool and Merseyside has two road tunnels, Liverpool to Birkenhead which you can also do a walking tour. Liverpool to Wallasey Tunnel, Two Cathedrals and The White Star Building where the Titanic was registered to and the Cavern Club where the Beatles launched their careers from. The Liver Buildings, The Cunard Building and Customs House, known as the ‘Three Graces’ as they dominate the Liverpool waterfront where you can also take a famous, Ferry across the Mersey.
