The Ayrshire branch covers a large scenic area in the South West of Scotland and also Dumfries and Galloway which borders on the North of England. The area is rich in history and boasts the birthplace of some of Scotland and indeed the Worlds most famous people. Robert Burns, King Robert the Bruce and John Paul Jones.
It is famous for its golf course including Royal Troon and British Open venue. Historically we have welcomed Vikings, Romans, the first Masonic Lodge and the last ever jousting tournament in the British Isles.
The area also has the first ever railway line and the first bridge (viaduct) to carry a railway line in the World.
A diverse area of beauty, culture and cuisine it is a little part of the IPA World worth visiting. If that is your choice you will be met by local members, who have entertained fellow members from around the world, in hosting two full Friendship week events and numerous mini breaks.
The branch is twinned with fellow members in the Netherlands and in Washington DC and are in the process of twinning with the Liverpool branch, sometime in the near future.
Whether your interests are in sport, history, good food and adventure Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway has it all. We even boast one of the World’s finest dark sky area if you are into astronomy or just gazing at the stars. Whatever your interest the members of the Ayrshire branch extend the hand of friendship to fellow members their families and friends.
Come and join us you will not regret it.
