The 20th August saw seven members of the motorcycle SIG on the move again, this time to Lincoln, originally to visit the British Superbike Meeting at Cadwell park on the 22nd, however, as often happens in this country the weather had other ideas and the visit to the Superbikes was abandoned and the itinerary changed to a wet weather alternative.

So, Saturday saw us walk across the road from the hotel to Bomber Command HQ memorial building and exhibition, built in remembrance of the 55,205 aircrew lost in WWII.

An interesting but sad history of the huge sacrifice made by incredibly young men in defence of our country. Also incorporated into the visit was a guided tour of the garden of remembrance and the huge tower edifice, the height of which was the wingspan of a Lancaster bomber! Also listed there were the names of all the crews who gave their lives for us. Very moving.

With a slight improvement in the weather Sunday saw us on a run lead by Stuart McMillan around some fabulous biking roads in Lincolnshire, culminating in coffee (and pork scratchings for Ian which later gave him indigestion and oh how we all laughed) at the Lancaster bar in Woodhall Spa, wartime home to the famous 617 Dambusters Squadron.

On return we made a quick call at a famous Lincolnshire biker meeting place named Willingham Woods before heading back to the hotel.

That night dinner was at a local Thai restaurant followed by some liquid refreshment at a really quaint old pub named “The Strugglers Inn” (definitely scheduled for a return visit).

Monday morning came, typically along with the sunshine and after breakfast it was time for us all to say goodbye and set off in our various directions to home, no one fell out, there was no fighting and a great time was had by all (I think)😀
