Benefits
This a Statement that is often made when being asked to join an association. Especially when there is an exchange of money involved. So what are the benefits of joining the International Police Association?
Firstly, for the cost of one less pint or short a month, you would be joining the largest friendship organisation of its kind in the world. With over 360,000 members worldwide. Our membership is made up of serving and retired police officers, staff, and volunteers.
There are opportunities to travel to many of the IPA houses all over the world and be welcomed by local IPA members and see sights and gain entry to places not normally available to the regular tourist.
Exchanges for your children or for them to have pen pals from all over the world.
Invitations to social and cultural events all over the world.
There are special interest groups for those interested in writing (we have published authors among our ranks), motorcycling, walking, family history, caravanning and much, much more. In fact, the more you put in, the more you will benefit from your membership of this fantastic association.
International exchanges with other law enforcement agencies.
Although, as I have previously said, the IPA is predominantly a friendship organisation, as a member there are many professional development opportunities to take advantage of. Seminars held in the IPA Education and Information Centre at Gimborn Castle Germany.

Seminars range from covering international terrorism, Modern day human trafficking, cybercrime and street safety to name just a few. Many of the seminars at Gimborn, and those held elsewhere in the world, will attract a substantial contribution toward travel and costs for IPA members.
We offer a scholarship named after our association founder, Arthur Troop. Every year serving IPA members can apply to receive a scholarship of €2,500 to be used toward a training course.
We hold a Young Police Officers Seminar (YPOS) every other year aimed at giving a global view to law enforcement and the IPA. The most recent has been held in Sri Lanka. This fantastic association can offer all of the above and much more, and becoming a member could not be more straightforward.
Please read a member's account of his travels to Sri Lanka to take part in the YPOS
